The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strengthens relations at the highest federal level during Invest in America DC Washington, D.C. — February 8, 2026. As part of the official activities of Invest in America DC, in its first edition of the year and the first of four strategic events scheduled for 2026, the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce expresses its most sincere gratitude to the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, for her warm welcome and institutional deference in receiving our delegation at her official office this past Friday, February 6, at 1:30 in the afternoon. This high-level meeting marks a significant milestone in strengthening relations between the Chamber and the Federal Government, laying the groundwork for a strategic alliance focused on key issues such as workplace safety, the U.S. labor culture applied to foreign workers, and labor certification processes, with the goal of facilitating, within the current legal framework, the incorporation of unskilled labor that responds to the real needs of the U.S. labor market. During the meeting, proposals for financing and federal funds from the Department of Labor were also discussed, aimed at strengthening the Chamber’s educational programs focused on training minority businesses—both active companies and startups—as well as guiding foreign companies interested in establishing operations in the United States. This potential alliance represents a far-reaching strategic advancement, not only due to the institutional backing it entails, but also because it consolidates the Chamber as a reliable actor and bridge between the federal public sector and the national and international private sector. Meeting with a cabinet-level official is neither common practice nor accessible to just any entity; it is a clear demonstration of the credibility, leadership, and track record that the Chamber has built over the years. “This meeting represents the beginning of a great journey. We are opening doors that will generate jobs, strengthen business education, and consolidate relations at the highest level of the United States Government,” stated Doug Mayorga, CEO of the U.S. Minority Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber reaffirms its commitment to continue working responsibly and strategically to promote business, the economy, and employment, strengthening the development of our communities and building solid bridges between the United States and the world.
